TCASN believes in equipping the professionals who walk with high school students and adults. Our focus in designing professional learning is centered around student development, specialized knowledge, and an equity lens.

The College Access Project (CAP)

TCASN has partnered with the Ayers Institute for Teacher Learning and Innovation at Lipscomb University since 2012 to build and implement the College Access Project, an online professional learning opportunity for professionals who counsel middle and high school students on college access. CAP is offered in a cohort model with facilitation by an experience college access professional, and participants leave with a portfolio of materials they can turn around and use in their work. Participants who complete all five strands of CAP are eligible for graduate credit through the College of Education at Lipscomb University.

CAP serves as some of the content for the Master of Education in School Counseling program at Lipscomb University.

Preparing Adults for the Transition to Higher Education (PATH)

PATH was developed in partnership with the Ayers Institute for Teacher Learning and Innovation at Lipscomb University and aligned to the needs of the Tennessee Reconnect communities, precursors to the Tennessee Reconnect program. PATH is a self-paced online course designed to equip professionals who work with adults returning to or starting college with the information they need to guide adults in starting the college enrollment process. Content is focused on understanding the needs of adult learners, differentiating between types of certifications, degrees, and institutions, navigating a college campus, and college affordability.
