Adult education includes classroom and workforce training opportunities outside the K-12 to college pipeline. Many programs are available for free or at a very low cost, and some programs offer benefits like childcare and transportation subsidies. Program eligibility varies, with several programs targeted to special populations like refugees, immigrants or those who have been formerly incarcerated.
Navigators will assist visitors to identify their educational visions, document challenges they have faced in pursuing their education and match them to providers that offer services that are in alignment with their goals.
Interpreters will be available for speakers of Spanish, Arabic, Dari, French, Karen, Kinyarwanda, Kurdish, Pashto and Swahili; other languages will be updated on the event website at: https://goalcollective.org/never-stop-learning. Community partners like American Red Cross and VITA tax services will also share free resources with the public, including fire safety in the home, tax preparation and medical information.
“Never Stop Learning will showcase pathways to self-improvement, employment and family literacy for adult education learners in the Nashville community," said Marnie Huff, a co-chair of GOAL's Learner Engagement Working Group.
Associate Executive Director Dr. Ameshica Linsey said, “Our collective is essential to the advancement of adult education; together, we are ensuring equitable access to programs that empower adult learners to thrive and unlock their full potential. I am excited to continue witnessing the transformation of this space in our city.”
